Vocal Point takes the term a cappella to a whole new level. Vocal Point is a 16 member, audition, a cappella group from Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School in Western Wisconsin, along the Mississippi River. For those of you who don’t know the term a cappella, it means music without instruments. Everything that you hear today will be created with the human voice. From the guitar, to the bass, to the piano, to even the drum set, everything is created with the human voice.

Vocal Point performs in over 25 different events, such as this one, and represented the entire state of Wisconsin at the World Choir Games in Cincinnati, OH a few summers ago. There they shared the stage with groups from over 65 different countries. 2 years ago they placed 11th in the entire country at the International Championship for High School A cappella, falling 9 points short from moving on to the finals in New York City. Last year Vocal Point was 1 of 7 high school groups in the country to be selected for the very first contemporary a cappella festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City, hosted by “Pitch Perfect” musical director and the “Godfather” of a cappella himself, Deke Sharon.

Along with performing, Vocal Point also reaches out to schools all across the Midwest by presenting workshops that teach the values of working hard and the most important value, choral music. Vocal Point will sing a few choral arrangements while visiting schools. This helps students understand that if it weren’t for the fundamental skills learned from singing choral music, that the members of Vocal Point would not have the skills to successfully sing contemporary a cappella.

The group is composed of the greatest and most talented singers from G-E-T High School. Vocal Point is an extra curricular activity that meets before school Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7am-8am.
